A Doula Story is a movie about a CHC-trained doula and her work. It is powerfully touching and informative. The movie will be released   nationally on PBS in October. In Chicago, it will air on WTTW11 on October 6, at 8pm.

Strengthening Connections, CHC National Community-Based Doula Conference 2006
CHC is proud to present our 2nd national community-based doula conference in 2006. The keynote speaker is Dr. Susan Ludington, and seminar topics will include mother-baby skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, advocating for sustainable funding, evaluation of doula impact, reflective supervision, prevention of prematurely and SIDS, and much more!! Be sure to register early and get a spot while you can!

The Community-Based Doula: Reclaiming Birth, Empowering Families, by CHC Executive Director Rachel Abramson and co-authors Ginger Breedlove and Beth Isaacs, will be published by Zero to Three Press in 2006. The book is about the impact of doula support and the importance of the community-based doula model to families around the country. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) provided a generous grant to CHC for a four-year pilot project of the community-based doula model. The RWJF website has a wonderful project report that explains our work http://www.rwjf.org/reports/grr/029806.htm.
2003 Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Award
The Harris Doula Institute of Chicago Health Connection received the 2003 State Impact Award from the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB). HMHB is a leading voice on maternal and child health, reaching an estimated one million health care professionals, parents and policymakers through its membership of over 200 local, state and national organizations. This award recognizes one program each year that has had exemplary state-level impact, and CHC is an honored recipient.
